Song Spotlight: Beaming's say goodbye (a night at The Airliner Bar)

Beaming (the duo of Braden Lawrence and Derek Ted) closed out the night at a recent Rocknite showcase at The Airliner Bar. Braden Lawrence is the drummer for The Districts while Derek Ted works with Field Medic. The duo brought their fan base to The Airliner Bar. I noticed it immediately when those in the crowd were singing the lyrics to the opening song "Stuck (here)" louder than the band. It only took that one song to sweep me into a sense of meditation.

First comment of the set: It's like the weekend, but it's not. 

The Americana-folk tunes "4U" and "BUGBITE" had me thinking of Local Natives, but with the ability to accomplish the same melodic thrill ride with just a two person band. "BUGBITE" had the crowd cheering. They switched it up with "SLOWER" that they described as their Emo Nite song.    

Second comment of the set: Anyone have some alien conspiracy theories they'd like to share with the class.

Back in 2025, they did a collaboration with Field Medic for the song "slow sinkin." Perhaps they needed Field Medic up on stage with them? They started off the song and were not happy with how it started off. "Did the tracks just get quiet?" Another attempt was made. Nah, not good enough. It was a 3x attempt before they got it. Maybe it was their humorous setup of the audience, because the song does end with the lyrics, "Was it worth the wait?" Maybe it was an actual snafu.

The band recently released their debut album horseshoes. The song spotlight goes to their anthem song "say goodbye" from the album. They turned up the energy to explode into a song of joy. Derek Ted took the opportunity to dance around the stage. The crowd soon picked up the lyrics to sing along with the band. Braden Lawrence scratched the guitar to the audience's delight. The crowd began clapping to the beat to close it out. 

Sometimes one just doesn't want to say goodbye.
