Song Spotlight: Mila Rubina's No One Compares (a night at Bar Lubitsch)

What lifestyle will Mila Rubina's kids have? "MY KIDS WILL BE NEPO BABIES," she boldly proclaims on her Instagram page. Based on her Bar Lubitsch (a WFNM showcase) performance, she's on her way to settling up her kids for generational wealth. Is there a playfulness to that proclamation? She is the "world's only natural yellow haired" individual so that provides a clue.

Her friends lined up at the front of the stage for her theatrical pop performance. They knew the lyrics and sang along. Filling up behind the wall of friends was a crowd that was fascinated by her artistic performance. When there was a brief technical issue with her tracks, there was a chant of "Mila! Mila! Mila!" She gave a dance and then took a casual stage exit over to the laptop.

It was, one has to say, a set that won everyone over rather quickly with her extroverted enthusiasm and dramatic stage posture that seemed to be second nature to her. One has to mention her props that included a pink lace fabric that she used as a blindfold for one song and a yellow feather headband that was used for another. When it came to the long pink lace fabric, it clung to her clothes after the song and a friend came over to tell her that it was still clinging to her mini-dress. That is role of a true friend.

Her friends helped her keep up the energy as they enthusiastically mimicked her dance moves. Her nails might be chipped and her designer bags might be from 1999, but she's "Still Chic" and the screams from the audience to end the set let her know that. "I really must be going now. I'm so sorry."

Sabrina Carpenter, meet Mila Rubina who can keep the pace with you. Yet, she is out to be her own person, blazing her own path. Her set in a way was a single release party for "No One Compares" so I'll make that the song spotlight. Someone, a rival perhaps, is in a feud with our protagonist. It is an imaged situation.

The only girl I compare myself to . . . is me from yesterday

Her night was not over. She had a cameo in Shi La Rosa's set, participating in a skit. A shout out to Shi La Rosa, who I've followed for a number of years (link to a blog post from last year) -- so it was amazing to see her end the night.
