Michigan transplant Karissa Bone currently lives in Los Angeles, but that hasn't diminished her loyalties to her home state. When she took to the WFNM showcase stage at Bar Lubitsch, she immediately discussed college sports. Based on her t-shirt and her friendship with fellow showcase singer Alison Albrecht, she meant Michigan and not Michigan St. Due to the calendar month of said comment, I'm assuming that she was focused on basketball. Should Michigan not win March Madness, someone (or thousands) will be feeling a sense of temporary fan depression. As of the time of this post, the team has advanced to the Final Four.

The Greek-American artist knew what sort of audience she wanted for her set and told the crowd that anyone who wanted to dance or talk should head to the bar. (Bar Lubitsch has two rooms, at the front is the bar and then there is a hallway that goes to the venue portion.) People listened well, because a handful of people headed towards the bar, but that just meant that an attentive audience remained to listen to her folk tunes and comedic moments.
Were her comedic moments truth or fiction? I'm not sure. For example, for the unreleased tune "Constantly" she mentioned that Joe Jonas liked her Instagram reel where she posted the song. She mentioned that she loved it, because she is a team Joe Jonas person and wouldn't have been all that impressed if the Instagram like came from brothers Nick or Kevin.

Her story for "Last Name" is surely true. She mentioned that the song is about attending weddings or funerals and running into family members that she is convinced she's never seen before, but her mother insists that she knows them. For her cover of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," she mentioned that she was taking a more negative spin on the song. A friend was supposed to join her on stage, but came down with a migraine. Wait, was the migraine story truth or fiction?
For "Bad At Math," she brought up the aforementioned Alison Albrecht (who was also celebrating her birthday) for a duet. The tune is about a dramatic friendship breakup (she mentioned that a friend in the audience was there to witness the breakup and the friend nodded in agreement). She closed it out with "Can't Seem to Feel." A song about emotional love connections not aligning properly while searching for a significant other, "If you've been on hinge, you know the darkness."

The song spotlight goes to her opening song "Life Plan" that she described as starting off her "sad folk" set. The life plan isn't about her life plan, but an unnamed individual. The lyrics definitely fall under the sad folk banner.
You got a whole life plan and I'm not in it
In a couple of years will you realize I'm missing
Her Spotify bio has this description of her sad folk tunes, "She loves writing lyrics that feel like getting stabbed (figuratively, she does not condone violence) & is an absolute force onstage."
Setlist: Life Plan, Constantly, Last Name, Don't Go Breaking My Heart (Elton John and Kiki Dee cover), Bad At Math, Can't Seem to Feel.
