In Sonic Dreams Presents recently had a showcase at The Goldfish that featured a band that I have followed for years, Dream Phases. Likely of interest to only me and maybe the band, I caught the band for the first time in 2017 at The Hi Hat. The Goldfish occupies the spot that used to be The Hi Hat (pre-pandemic venue). The reason I ran across Dream Phases that date in 2017 was because Livingmore was playing that night -- a much beloved band of mine.

Since that 2017 date, the band has created a deep catalog across four studio albums as well as a handful of EP releases. They mined that catalog on this particular night. They started off the night by doing a flash back to the beginning with "Maybe Tomorrow" that highlighted their psychedelic roots. The band then jumped to the present with "Wake Up Time" that is off their 2024 album release Phantom Idol. There are hints of The Beatles in the song. "To Walk Away" was from their 2018 Clear Skies EP. The song melody glides along with a blend of country psychedelics.

The band ended the set with a new song titled "Little Blue." The song is about the 20 month old son of Brandon Graham (band founder) and Jeanna Fournier (bassist).
The song spotlight goes to "Turn Away" from their Phantom Idol album. It is a song about turning away from the negativity of life for just a moment:
Woke up and got out of bedThought about the news that I had read
And how it feels the same each day

A curious fact is that I ran into Graham and Fournier the very next night at The Bellwether where The Dandy Warhols and Kula Shaker were co-headlining. You can read my US Rocker Music review of the night here.
If you're interested, I covered the band in 2021 for Buzzbands while enjoy Happy Sundays Long Beach. You can read that article here.
