Song Spotlight: Tanja's L.A. Boys (a night at Hotel Ziggy)

Can the sad girl find love in Los Angeles? Tanja (the shortened name for Tanja Jeramaz) put that out in the open at the WFNM showcase at Hotel Ziggy. Perhaps a perfect encapsulation of her search for love is "North Hollywood" where she takes a chance by asking out a guy who has the same name as her brother. There is the misinterpretation of commitment and a long wait followed by tears. The answer to the question is no at the moment, but one can only hope that the future turns brighter.

"I guess I've never truly been in love. I think I need to blame reading for that. I'm a voracious reader.  I'm just waiting for the fairy tale prince or Aragorn from Lord of the Rings to sweep me off my feet, but my therapist tells me that's not realistic." She might want the dashing prince, but she later admitted to dating toxic men and that she had a thing for the bad guy in Disney's Mulan. (Cartoon or live action, that's the question.) She is not kidding about being a voracious reader. I was glancing through her Instagram and in the background of one of her Reels is a bookcase and coffee table stacked with books.

Her set was solo with backing tracks, which put the focus on her dreamy pop sounds and allowed the audience to navigate her lyrical stories. The crowd cheered throughout the set, but also laughed and sympathized during her open heart discussions of her search for either that prince or villain.

Her Spotify bio has the following tidbits of info about her life and music: Originally from the Napa Valley, 27 year old pop singer-songwriter Tanja moved to Los Angeles to pursue music. Her debut EP [Haunted House] is heavily inspired by Gothic literature, Kate Bush, and Stevie Nicks.

Her final song of the set was (at the time) her upcoming release "L.A. Boys" where she gives the opposite sex her opinion of them (specifically those in Los Angeles):

Boys like you owe every L.A. Girl
A reimbursement for her therapy

Setlist: Haunted House, Ghost, Don't Look Back, North Hollywood, L.A. Boys.
