I will say I didn't know what to expect when Pablo Lynn (moniker for lead singer Ilan Eskenazi) hit the stage at Bar Lubitsch during a recent WFNM showcase. All I knew was that the band had only 26 followers on Instagram. That just led me to believe they were a super new band that Grant Owens (WFNM founder) had uncovered. As the band was setting up their gear, I was hanging at the front of the stage, at one of my two normal spots. I was likely on my phone, reading a random article from the Internet, because I didn't realize that a crowd had followed the band into the venue (for those who don't know, Bar Lubitsch has two rooms: a bar and a venue area).

When the band started to play their hard blues rock music, the band immediately captured my attention. Then I heard the crowd yelling their approval, I looked around the venue and saw that it was packed for their set.
In some ways, this night could be seen as their West Coast EP release party for their debut self titled album. Eskenazi explained the background of the EP, "I made these songs in lockdown and then we came out of lockdown as a united world. And I left them on my computer until last year." How many other creative projects from 2020 are just collecting "dust" on a hard drive? As the world opened up, people went out to celebrate and enjoy life, leaving not enough time to finalize their projects. I'm sure there are plenty of those creative projects that need to find the light of day.

Their Spotify bio has the following, "With gritty guitar riffs, smoky vocals, and grooves that move, Pablo channels classic blues energy through a modern, urban lens." As for Eskenazi, his personal website gives additional nuggets of information, "When I'm not acting, I'm working on original music and planning dream travels around the world."
A funny moment when he introduced his final song of the night "Next to Me." He dedicated it to those in the crowd who were thinking of a special someone. His girlfriend's friends seemed to think that he should have dedicated the song to her.

The song spotlight goes to "Blue Room." Was there a woman causing such strong feelings that it was driving our songwriter to emotionally suffer?
