Jady (the Ohio due of vocalist Jarrett Doherty and drummer Ashton Bergdorf) took to the stage at The Fonda Theatre as one of the opening acts for The Cab. I got to review the night for US Rocker Music. You can read that review here. Bergdorf was the first to walk out onto the stage and take a seat behind his drum kit. What I immediately noticed was that he had a chain necklace circling his head. Being a fan of both the Dune books and Dune movies, my mind went directly to the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.

Then came Doherty. He was so hyped up that he sent his microphone flying into the photo pit. The microphone landed right at my feet. I picked it up and handed it back to him. Interestingly enough, during The Cab's set, while I was out in the audience; a fan's glasses went flying off his head. I noticed that he and his friend were frantically looking for his glasses. I looked around as well. Luckily, I did not move over to help directly, because I might have stepped on his glasses, because his friend found them right next to my feet. I suppose I should have assumed that they would have landed at my feet.
As a photographer, I especially loved their setup. Bergdorf's drum kit was not set-up stage center and to the back. It was up close and slightly off center stage right. This allowed Doherty to sing right next to the drums. I personally think it made for some interesting photos when combined with Doherty's dynamic stage performance.

I should add that the band did not have a setlist on stage (or at least one I could see). I approached Doherty later when he was talking to fans in the lobby area of The Fonda Theatre. He was kind enough to write down his setlist for me.
The song spotlight goes to "TMSTIDK." I'm going with that from their setlist as it was the song that most got the crowd involved. The band had the crowd singing "Go tell me somethin' that I don't know," which is the chant for the acronym title. The song has a rap-punk beat to it. A song about the music industry and how perhaps many people don't realize that Doherty and Bergdorf are a team.

Don't say we're homies, I know what you're callin' me for.
Jady setlist: Reanimate, Fragile, Shed My Skin, Sweater Weather (The Neighbourhood), TMSTIDK, Chokehold, Candy, Stunner.
