I first came across Harmony Index (the moniker for Nico Leibman) in 2023. She was headlining a set for a Safe Travels Presents showcase at the Resident DTLA. I should just mention that the Resident DTLA closed its doors in October 2025. It isn't necessarily a shock to me. I remember talking to the manager back in 2024, because they were putting a stop (I believe it was just temporary) on live performances. It was a reason why Alphabet Soup (a collaboration between The Witching Hours and Safe Travels Presents) had to move locations that year. It was mentions that alcohol purchases had declined post-2020. Pre-2020, I always considered the venue to be The Arts Districts answer (smaller in size) to Zebulon. You'd hang out at the venue and occasionally run into people such as Victoria Justice.

I finally got to catch back up with Harmony Index in 2026 at Zebulon. One similarity between 2023 and 2026 was the fact that Harmony Index and Delanova shared the stage. What would have made it a very unusual coincidence would have been if Sagittaire (played that 2023 show) was also on the bill. One difference between the two nights was that in 2023 she had a backing band while on this night she was doing a solo set with guitar and backing tracks. She also had video playing against the Zebulon screen, showing traffic going along the 101 east to the 405 south during the late night hours until the twilight hours.
I took a photo of her laptop screen to get the setlist. It is possible that the setlist was just code names, but it would appear that her set was testing out unreleased material. Also, that screen shot indicated that her set was scheduled to last exactly 33 minutes.

The night started off with her taking rather long pregnant pause before launching into her opening song. Since that 2023 encounter, she released a four song EP in 2025 called Winterbreaks. The music on that EP is a good representation of her set. The music is calming with traces of hypnotic techno beats on one song while shifting to jazz grooves on another. The music swept her into interpretative dance moves. There was a moment where she was so into the zone that she didn't realize how close she was to her laptop and nearly knocking over the music stand holding it. As her set drifted to a conclusion, she took her dance moves out to the audience.
My song spotlight is "Drifting," which is off the Winterbreaks EP. The song has a light jazz touch that explores the inability to break out of painful emotions. There is hope behind a new day, but . . .
