American Sigh (moniker for Theo Matz) recently closed out a night of music at The Fable (a Ryan Pollie and Make Out Music collaboration). The band's Spotify bio describes the music as such, "Their songs wrap meditations on a world in flux in a beguiling blend of up-tempo indie folk, second-wave emo guitar squall, and articulate, chiming melody."

Comment of the set: I'm a big tuner.
Matz did do a lot of tuning throughout the set. That is an indication of how the band switched their sound throughout their set from indie folks tunes like "Anything Anywhere" to the more country vibes of "Whiter Lies" and "Never or Now." He ended the set with the melody driven "Vulnerable." That got the sound guy fiddling with the knobs throughout the set. For the two first acts, the sound guy set things up and then took off. For American Sigh, he was adjusting every other song. The one part of the set that did not change was Matz's idiosyncratic vocals. A vocal pitch that leaned on a falsetto tension.

The Fable has a tight-quarters corner of the bar where bands perform their sets. Yet, Matz gave an entertaining performance, doing mini-music duels with his fellow guitarist and throwing his body into the rhythms of the songs. All this without knocking over his microphone stand or slamming his guitar into his band mates.
Comedy moment of the set. He brought some bread to share with those at The Fable. He pointed out that he specifically brought "Challah" bread. His friends in the audience started to laugh and they corrected him with, "HAH-luh." Honestly, I thought it was pronounced Challah.

The song spotlight goes to the opening song that kicked off the set with a rocker. "No Resolution" also highlights Matz's ability to intertwine complex lyrics and catchy composition. It is a song that starts off with inserting ADHD into the first line of lyrics. Maybe the song is a little ADHD as it drifts from moving (to Los Angeles?) based on seeing "a billboard through a screen" to people taking his words and putting them under "closest scrutiny" (hey, that's what I'm doing) to Hollywood being a a city of "opportunist."
