Yagki (aka Sarah Yagki) took the stage during my first WFNM showcase of 2026 at Hotel Ziggy. The Lebanese heritage, Australian born, current Los Angeles resident (apparently ended 2025 moving to Los Angeles) had an infectious enthusiasm during her 35 minute set. She made sure people were aware that her accent was Australian and "not a bad British accent." Personally, I'd like to know why Vegemite is a thing.

Her music has pop influences, but I did notice that later in the week she was playing a goth-new wave event where there was an expected dress code. So her music can go in a Substance Fest direction. She opened up her set with "Run," which is a song about have sleep paralysis for 15 years of her life.

During the set, she showcased her ability to do one of the slowest motion hair flips in Los Angeles. Sure, there were those lightening-quick flips, but other times she was doing it with effortless style. The one move she made that I wanted to capture on camera, but just couldn't, was her casual move of tossing her microphone from hand to hand without a glitch in her performance.

Her latest song "Blame" is a song that her Australian YAPPERS "bullied" (term of endearment, I am sure) her into releasing. She introduced the song "Just A Ghost" by telling a life story of being in a coma at the age of 3 and waking up in foster care. One can only imagine the horrible story behind those early years. "Adults" is about her relationship with a former professor (post coursework) and the dynamics involved (you can read more into the backstory here).

Comment of the set: Is that good air guitaring.
Information of the night: she wrote her setlist with lipstick.
Song spotlight came down to "Nightmare" or "Something I Do." After playing both songs a handful of times on Spotify, I'm going with "Something I Do." Both highlight her playful vocals, but I'll say that I just love how the music has an RnB off-beat glide rhythm to it.

Is the song related to the same relationship described in "Adult?" Maybe, maybe not.
Crying between jobs, just here wasting some time
Too afraid to move on, so I let go of my thoughts
Partial Setlist: Run, Nightmare, Something I Do, Blame, Alone, Just A Ghost, Just Like Me, Down The Barrel, Adult.
If interested, she will be playing Bar Lubitsch on February 19th.
