I took off to see Mirrorball at AM Presents Music showcase at Club Tee Gee. Luckily for me, they played last. Why? Because I got to catch Photo Ops (the moniker for Terry Price). Based on the Instagram poster, I figured that Mirrorball would be up second and I was going to take off after that and jump into bed early. That plan was disrupted when Photo Ops took that slot.

As soon as Price started his set with soothing vocals and the backing of his folk band, I forgot about my desire to get to bed early (okay, maybe that isn't totally honest, but I was swept away by the set). I do believe that others felt the same as those in venue were quiet throughout - other than the cheers for various songs and the one loud protest to a comment he made. Considering the subdued nature of the tunes, it would have been easy for conversations in the audience to overwhelm the music and this just did not happen.
Debate of the night: who was Price's favorite band? He mentioned that Fleetwood Mac was his second favorite band, because D.A. Stern (opener for the night) was his favorite. Friends who knew him well started to contradict him by tossing out other bands that they felt were actually his favorite. I do believe he eventually landed on a 1A and 1B, but Fleetwood Mac was definitely his second favorite.

His Bandcamp has some interesting comments about his 2023 album Burns Bright, "The most devout of craftspeople, Price is on a quest toward the merciful essence of recognition when he writes songs; each line discovers a pure element of comfort, calling back to the land and to his musician mother’s love of transcendent melodies."
Though not from Burns Bright, I do believe that "Walking Under The Trees" from his 2020 album Pure at Heart fits nicely with that description. The opening melody played on his acoustic guitar were just mesmerizing. I think the lyrics also explore that "element of comfort." Life has ups and downs, but somehow you search for the positives in life.
