Syd Taylor was the headline singer at the final 2025 School Night X KCRW at Zebulon. This was the fourth edition of School Night's return to the Los Angeles music scene after ending their multi-year run last year at Bardot. I won't lie and say that School Night was on my regular rotation, but I did attempt to make it to Bardot every so often. In fact, I wrote a couple articles for US Rocker Music about my adventures at School Night. In 2022, I wrote up an article featuring talker (you can read that article here) and another featuring King Mala (you can read that article here).

The night was dedicating to featuring songs from her 2025 debut album release After the Fact that came out during the summer. She sang 8 songs off the 12 track album. Before going solo, Taylor was in the band Stereo Jane with her twin sister Emilia Paige. Emilia Paige was in the audience to support her sister's solo project. One of the songs that night was called "Jane" and was dedicated to the memory of that band. Before starting the song she told the audience, "It was time to go my own way."

Jane, you're on my mind
I think about our memories when I fall asleep at night
When she finished the reflecting on the past song, she told the audience in regards to her sister, "She made faces at me the whole time."
Rude moment of the night: while she was talking about her title track "After The Fact" a guy was talking loudly at the merch table. It actually got her out of her headspace as she looked over at the guy.
The loud talking did not derail her thoughts on the title track and why it was chosen as the title track, "What's the song that makes me feel the bitchiest? That makes me feel the most me? And I feel like it just embodies every part of why I wrote that album." The song is an indie pop gem that highlights her alluring vocals and on stage star power.
As one might be able to tell, there are multiple songs from the night that I found thrilling. I'll give the song spotlight to "Heaven" which is her biggest hit per Spotify and that song that she used to close out the night. She took up the acoustic guitar for this one and rocked out to a song about signaling to someone that she's ready and willing to be wooed.
You'll never find somebody like me
I'm the girl, I'm the girl of your dreams
Open the door
I could be your heaven
Setlist: Love Of Your Life, Time To Go!, Leave Me Out Of It, My Man, After The Fact, Jane, You're A Woman, Heaven.
