I'll show you magic (moniker for Eva Smittle) was the opening band for the Rocknite showcase at Zebulon. When Smittle took to the stage, my mind immediate did a two decade flashback. Her look (especially her hair style) had me immediately writing down on my phone's docs app: Monsters are Waiting. That was a band fronted by Annalee Fery. I believe I only saw the band 2 or 3 times, but I continued to follow Fery via her next project Lonely Trees. Where is Fery currently? I did an Internet search and the last info I could find dates back 7 years when she posted a music video under the band name King Lee.

When it came to her tune "If it hits me," the two basses came into play. The song started off with Szabó hitting those base lines that set the tone. To reference another Los Angeles band (current), the song starts similar to a donna song with that bass emphasis. Of course, there are differences, donna songs can explode beyond the bass with a heavy drum beats. As for I'll show you magic, as the song came to a conclusion, Smittle went for her own bass and the song exploded into a brief deep thunderous moment. Smittle sang with haunting quietness and expressive gestures (all so similar to Fery).
Her songs had a hypnotizing effect on the crowd and during song breaks it was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
The song spotlight goes to "Feel You." It is her recent release. She mentioned that she couldn't even promote it, because Instagram took down her account due to something she posted on her page. "Instagram f*cking hates women. And what I posted was f*cking funny." So hey, I'll give it my little blogsite plug.
I give you my favorite words.
Setlist: Lose It, If it hits me, Far, Forty Four, Lie, Feel You, Rush.
