Duke Basketball vs Yale: 71 - 64

Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram need some rest. Both of them played all 40 minutes. They better not go partying over the next 4 days.

The 1st half of this game looked like it was going to be an easy night with folks getting some rest. I was thinking maybe Duke would get to play Sean Obi and Antonio Vrankovic. They started the game hitting 3s. Luke Kennard found his shot and was sinking 3s.

Well, even though Duke was up 48 - 25 at the end of the 1st half, you could tell that things might get tighter as Yale went on a little run at the end of the half.

To start the 2nd half, Duke held for a couple minutes, but then Yale just put on an amazing run. At moments, it looked like all 5 Duke players on the floor had taken too many punches. They were staggering and looked uninspired on offense.

Somehow they got a gut check as the game was ticking down. They were able to get their offense functioning to an adequate level and played some tough defense.

What I noticed:

When Duke switched up the defense to put Brandon Ingram up top, Yale's offense just collapsed in the 2nd half similar to how Duke's offense collapsed in the 2nd half. When it comes to offense: yes, Ingram scored 25 points, but I just don't understand why they don't feed him more often.

Luke Kennard got his shooting touch back.

Matt Jones: his 2nd game fouling out. What's up with his dumb fouls. The guy is a junior. He shouldn't be making dumb fouls.

There was a moment in the game where I was laughing in fear as I saw Duke with 1 sophomore and 4 freshman on the floor. Both Jones and Marshall Plumlee were on the bench due to foul trouble, which brings me back to a point: why are the upperclassmen the one's with the foul troubles? We need them to stay on the floor.
