Alex Brown with her raspy vocals dropped by a WFNM showcase night at Bar Lubitsch. During the set, it was mentioned that she is a former engineer who decided to leave her job and pursue music full time. She was working in Boston and moved to Los Angeles back in March. Her Substack mentions that she is now busy taking on acting gigs and on the music side is anticipating putting out her debut EP later this year.

She may not have lived that long in Los Angeles, but she has definitely created a friend network. When she was getting ready to start her set, a stream of friends walked into the venue (Bar Lubitsch also has a bar section). Without any required encouragement, they all gathered close to the stage.

Two songs that will likely be on the EP are "Friend of a Friend" and "This Lucky." She called the two songs her "Lover Era" tunes. Over a short period of time, she has made some life changing decisions. Not only did she decide to drop out of a stable career (unless AI knocks out the engineering career) and move to Los Angeles, but she also got married (her husband was in the audience). There were screams of approval as she mentioned that she had gotten married. "This Lucky" is about feeling "scared that her luck will run out."
Comment of the set to someone out in the audience: Karaoke is tomorrow.

After her "Lover Era" songs, she sang "compromise" which she called her pre-husband song. Before meeting her husband, "there was sadness." She closed it out with the unreleased "Wait and See." She introduced the song by mentioning that she was an engineer and why she took the leap into music, "I hated my life. Eight year old me would be like: what are you doing?"
The Song Spotlight is "never be enough," which was her first song of the night. It was a song to kick up the energy. No easing into the set. A song about someone in her life being way to critical.

I'm selfish, don't go out of my way, I'm stupid.
That's what you say . . .
