After getting beat rather convincingly at Carolina, I figured this was a measuring test for Duke. They passed, essentially keeping Carolina out of the game the whole way through -- much like Carolina did just recently.
What was amazing? Nolan Smith on Kendall Marshall. Ouch. And Kyle Singler on Harrison Barnes. Ouch. Kendall Marshall was locked down in the first half by Nolan Smith. Kyle Singler kept Harrison Barnes in check after he scored 40 at Clemson. That was some senior leadership on defense.
The Plumlee brothers got some points by playing like Brian Zoubek.
Andre Dawkins again played 13 minutes. It wasn't a lot of minutes, but he was impressive on defense (even the announcers made note of it) and got his three point shot going. You could tell on one of them he was thrilled. Getting his confidence back? I hope so. For some reason, I feel that Andre Dawkins is key for how Duke plays. He's not the best player on the team, but when he gets minutes he allows Seth Curry to get some rest. You then get fresh three point shooters coming in to play.
What a game. And later in the day we added a number one seed.
