I suppose one just has to admit that Carolina is the better team this year. This game wasn't even close -- though Duke did attempt a semi-comeback in the 2nd half that fell short when Seth Curry missed a three.
Live by the three, die by the three.
So in the first Duke-Carolina game, Duke went 14-36 from three point land. For this game, they went 6-21. Percentage-wise, that is 39% versus 29%, a 10 percentage point difference.
The Plumlees played well, a combined 33 points and 15 rebounds. The prior Carolina game saw them score 11 points and pull down 17 rebounds. I suspect that was the game plan by Carolina, focus on Duke's three point shooting and just give up the inside game. In the first meeting, it didn't seem like Duke could feed the ball down to the brothers. For this game, it seemed a lot easier.
Was this game interesting? No. It was a blow-out from the start. It essentially showed Duke's main weakness: an inability to play defense. And due to that, if they are cold from three point land, they're likely to get blown out.
