El Cid: Rambling Ways, Man Akin, MRCH, Beck Pete, Annabel Lee

El Cid must have double booked their Sunday, because the bands/artists on a recent Sunday afternoon got rushed like nothing I've seen recently. I don't think any of the bands/artists got more than 20 minutes. Rambling Ways might have gotten 10 minutes.

Anyways, there was some cool music. Annabel Lee opened the afternoon for me with some slamming piano tunes. She got things off with some big time jazz tunes.

Annabel Lee

Beck Pete came up next with some alto singer songwriter sounds.

Beck Pete

MRCH is a band I'd seen previously. They're from Phoenix and have some cool electronic beats.

MRCH

MAN AKIN had some smooth pop sounds.

MAN AKIN

Rambling Ways has to be one of my favorite bands that I've come across in 2019. There's just this subtle and beautiful mingling of jazz, RnB, and pop. Just so wonderful and they were only given about 10 minutes on stage. Even the folks setting up for the next event wanted the music to continue.

The Satellite: Object as Subject with Pink Lotion, I Speak Machine and Bitch

This was artsy music night at The Satellite. Object as Subject is the July residency band and they're the definition of artsy music. They started their set doing some interpretive dance moves. My thoughts were echoed by someone in the audience. Their dance had me thinking about the birth of two zombie.
Object as Subject
Pink Lotion opened the night. Was that colored cotton balls being used as jewelry?

Pink Lotion
I Speak Machine came on next with synth galore. She was surrounded by four such machines.

I Speak Machine
Bitch was up prior to Object as Subject. She gave the nine rules of the pussy. Well, she cut out a couple so I think we got the 7 rules.

Bootleg Theater: Polartropica with Lucy & La Mer and WASI

A recent Monday night at the Bootleg Theater was the final night of the Love is Gay tour by PolartropicaLucy and La Mer and WASI.

Polartropica always puts on a vibrant, colorful show. That was emphasized by her pink costume and blue hair. And also the stage design that Jess Joy (previous of Moon Honey) did. Joining in for a couple songs was Jett Kwong.

Polartropica
WASI opened up the night with their exercise routine rock. You can't help but work up a sweat watching their constant movement.

WASI
Lucy and La Mer is shifting from their sing-songwriter sounds. There is definitely a shift to an uptempo pop beat.

Shaken Vanity Block Party: Light Shadows, Jenna Noelle, The Adjacents

Shaken Vanity has a cool block party that is thrown on the first Friday of every month. From what I heard, the neighborhood allows businesses in the area to do whatever they want on the first Friday of the month. Honestly, it does look like this is the only business that throws an event.

This happened to be my second time attending this block party. I got to catch Light ShadowsJenna Noelle and The Adjacents.

Light Shadows with a Western Style Scifi attitude. One might actually think about the TV series Firefly while watching the band.

Light Shadows
Jenna Noelle slowed things down with some thoughtful tunes.

Jenna Noelle
The Adjacents ratcheted things up with some rock tunes.

Harvard and Stone: Zoya

Zoya. It was one of those hit and run nights. I got pinged about catching Zoya's set and so I went off to catch her. She loves to tell stories in her songs. Does she love her time in California? She'll sing you a tune. One has to love how she interacts with the audience. As her set was coming to a close, she left the stage and bounced around the crowd. She tells her stories and has fun doing it.

El Cid: Trends, JEMS, Cosmo Gold, Beauty Queen

It was off to El Cid. Wild Riot was hosting their Sunday afternoon music/shopping event.

The line-up included:

Trends
JEMS
Cosmo Gold
Beauty Queen

I actually saw two of those bands within the last month. I caught JEMS opening up the first Chinatown Summer Nights of 2019. Then I caught Cosmo Gold opening up for Ramonda Hammer.

JEMS

Cosmo Gold

Trends provided some cool pop tunes.

Trends
Beauty Queen brought the smiles and laughter.

The House of Machines: Oriah with Spectre Jones and Corretta

The line-up for The House of Machines was rather interesting and good.

Spectre Jones opened up with some Americana sounds. One person in the audience was so thrilled with what she heard that she wanted an encore. Unfortunately, the time schedule didn't work out. I could hear her telling her friend, "They're so good."

Spectre Jones
Corretta was playing their first set ever. They have metal rock power.

Corretta
Oriah was having a single release party. They rocked it out with lights flashing bright.

The Satellite: Sleep Lust with Lauren Rocket and Cuffed Up

This was my second time catching Lauren Rocket. I love her new sound. And the crowd did, as well. For an early start, there was a solid crowd in attendance.

Lauren Rocket
One of the Cuffed Up band members is Sapphire from Gypsum. If you know me, you know I love Gypsum. This band is totally different. The whole band was out there rocking out. It was totally fun.

Cuffed Up
Sleeplust closed out the night. The name happened to sound very familiar to me. So I went looking through my e-mail contacts. I saw them way back in 2016.
